Juan Ramón Hernáiz



Juan Ramón is an associate in the Technology, Media and Communications practice, specializing in Information and Communication Technology Law.

Juan Ramón has a wide spectrum of professional experience, including in private, public and social legal enterprises covering litigation, policy making, drafting of contracts, agreements, terms and conditions and expanding open data schemes for the Mexican Government.

Juan Ramón has substantial experience advising in diverse matters of compliance regarding Mexican regulation and has worked as outside counsel for banks such as HSBC and BBVA Bancomer in litigation matters.

He has also worked for a Telecommunications NGO, advising the Mexican Government on best practices for Telecommunications Authorities and open data procedures.

He was in charge of authorizing all contracts and agreements of the Mexican Ministry of Interior, including telecommunications, labour, public acquisitions, as well as international agreements, MOUs, NDAs, amongst many others. He also served as legal advisor the acquisitions committee responsible for approving all public purchases of the Ministry.

Juan Ramón was also deputy chairman of the Transparency Committee and Personal Data Protection Committee in the Mexican Ministry of Interior and oversaw the hearings in which classification of government data was determined.

Juan Ramón has a Master’s in information and Communication Technology Law from the University of Oslo where he wrote his Thesis on payment services in the European legal framework and their relation to cryptocurrencies.
